about Emilie

Emilie Parry-Williams

ATCL, BMus (Hons), PgDip

Emilie is a Classical Soprano based in South Wales. She has been singing since she was five years old, and one of her earliest memories is winning her first singing competition at the age of six, singing a Welsh children’s song ‘Mi Welais Jac-y-do’, at her school Eisteddfod.

She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Voice from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating in September 2019, and a First Class Undergraduate Music Degree from City University of London.

Emilie was awarded the Bill Weston Young Singers Award from Glyndebourne Opera House in October 2018; the award is given once every two years to a singer who has been involved with the Glyndebourne Education programme, which in Emilie's case, was Glyndebourne Academy 2017. More recently, Emilie was accepted to study a three month Erasmus through the European Opera Academy at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence, Italy, completing the programme and returning to Wales in December 2019.

Emilie travels to various locations around the UK to perform, her example repertoire list is updated regularly and available via email upon request.

Emilie has been blessed with a remarkable voice, she has incredible breath control and carries extensive legato passages with ease. She also has an obvious skill with dynamics. Emilie is capable of conveying emotions that come from deep within her soul when responding to the meaning and passion of words and phrases. The great control of her vocals and incredibly balanced, amazing performances are unique and leave an audience in awe. Her vocal range and technique are certainly a gift.

“Talk of the Day !!!! Emilie sang during the signing of the register at our wedding on the 25th of January 2020; with over 100 guests Emilie brought the 13th century church to a standstill. With what can only be described as a jaw-dropping performance my Mayoral Chaplin has never seen a standing ovation given by a wedding congregation in over 50 years of officiating at weddings.”

Mr William Routley, Mayor of Newport

"It was a pleasure to share the concert platform with Emilie for our concert at the Cornerstone in Cardiff. Her programme enthralled the audience and choir alike. What versatility and poise she has in performance. Emilie captivated the audience with singing of such character and charm and all executed with the most impressive vocal technique. We look forward to working with Emilie again in the future."

David Leggett, Musical Director of The Cardiff Ardwyn Singers

"We were privileged to be entertained by Emilie at our St. David’s Day Dinner this year. She performed a variety of operatic pieces, previewing each with the story behind each song to give context. Emilie also talked of her upbringing in Gwent, her musical journey and education and her ambitions, leaving us with no doubt of her passion for music. She engaged with the audience with charm and confidence. Her singing was simply stunning. We had very enthusiastic feedback from the guests and we would have no hesitation in recommending Emilie."

Reading Welsh Society

"Emilie was awarded a scholarship by our City of London Livery company for 2017-18. We give scholarships to top music students with outstanding credentials, and Emilie has certainly lived up to this. Emilie has performed at one of our major dinners of the year attended by some 200 guests. She was extremely impressive. She engages with the audience and sings superbly. I have rarely seen any scholar of ours impress the audience so well, and we received many compliments. This augurs very well for her future career, which we will follow with interest."

John Miller, Clerk / Chief Executive of The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers

"Emilie has sung for our members on several occasions, both as a soloist within a choir and on her own. A charming young women with an absolutely beautiful voice, who brings each and every person in the room to hushed attention and focus on her performance. With a choir of our own and national roots based in song, we at London Welsh Rugby Club have high standards when it comes to singing. Emilie brings joy to our membership and for those of brought up in the hills and valleys of Wales, a moving sense of family and home."

Gwyn Williams, Chairman - London Welsh Rugby Club

"Emilie sang some Puccini in the ballroom on our opening night. She has a beautiful voice and everyone was very moved. I am quite certain it is only a matter of time before she appears at the Royal Opera House.”
